\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 maebashi\u2019s innovative silk industry was a key driver of modernization of japan during the early meiji era (1868-1912). established in the edo period (1600-1868), the \u201cshiroya ryokan\u201d was a previous royal warrant holder and loved by various renowned artists and celebrities. y<\/span><\/span>et, although it changed its business model from a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) to a hotel in the 1970s and despite its 300-year history, the establishment was unfortunately forced into closure in 2008 due to the city central\u2019s rapid decline. after its closure, \u201cshiroiya\u201d was planned to be demolished; however, was saved by hitoshi tanaka foundation\u2019s \u201cmaebashi model\u201d revitalization project in 2014. in agreement with the project, the new shiroiya hotel will be undertaken with a collaborative effort by various creators from Japan and overseas, including sou fujimoto architects. shiroiya hotel\u2019s 5-year reconstruction process which involves the renovation of the old establishment and the construction of a new tower is yet to be complete. the project is a boutique hotel hosting 23 rooms, 2 saunas, a restaurant, a retail and other amenities. <\/span><\/span>the design process was partially a redevelopment of the existing building and also an extension of its volume. the new construction, completely underground, is designed through the construction of the garden. the project is completely based between the internal-external relationship, the hillshape define either the garden either the hotel rooms volume and other services. punctual elements, arranged in a fragmented way in this space of artificial hills are a sort of modern huts, these spaces belongs to the rooms, capable of suggesting a sense of intimacy to the hotel guest; intimacy deeply conceived as a refuge in the morphological conformation of this informal space halfway between building and garden. a hybrid, multifunctional, self-regenerating space.<\/p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_text disabled_on=”off|off|off” _builder_version=”3.22.7″ text_font=”Amethysta||||||||” text_font_size=”12px” text_line_height=”1em” header_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_text_align=”right” header_text_color=”#258d93″ header_font_size=”60px” header_3_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_4_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_4_text_align=”right” header_4_text_color=”#000000″ header_4_font_size=”24px” header_4_letter_spacing=”3px” header_4_line_height=”2.5em” custom_margin=”-55px|0px|57px|0px||” custom_padding=”80px|||||” animation_style=”slide” animation_direction=”top” animation_duration=”2000ms” animation_delay=”2100ms” animation_intensity_slide=”5%”]

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 maebashi\u2019s innovative silk industry was a key driver of modernization of japan during the early meiji era (1868-1912). established in the edo period (1600-1868), the \u201cshiroya ryokan\u201d was a previous royal warrant holder and loved by various renowned artists and celebrities. y<\/span><\/span>et, although it changed its business model from a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) to a hotel in the 1970s and despite its 300-year history, the establishment was unfortunately forced into closure in 2008 due to the city central\u2019s rapid decline. after its closure, \u201cshiroiya\u201d was planned to be demolished; however, was saved by hitoshi tanaka foundation\u2019s \u201cmaebashi model\u201d revitalization project in 2014. in agreement with the project, the new shiroiya hotel will be undertaken with a collaborative effort by various creators from Japan and overseas, including sou fujimoto architects. shiroiya hotel\u2019s 5-year reconstruction process which involves the renovation of the old establishment and the construction of a new tower is yet to be complete. the project is a boutique hotel hosting 23 rooms, 2 saunas, a restaurant, a retail and other amenities. <\/span><\/span>the design process was partially a redevelopment of the existing building and also an extension of its volume. the new construction, completely underground, is designed through the construction of the garden. the project is completely based between the internal-external relationship, the hillshape define either the garden either the hotel rooms volume and other services. punctual elements, arranged in a fragmented way in this space of artificial hills are a sort of modern huts, these spaces belongs to the rooms, capable of suggesting a sense of intimacy to the hotel guest; intimacy deeply conceived as a refuge in the morphological conformation of this informal space halfway between building and garden. a hybrid, multifunctional, self-regenerating space.<\/p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_text disabled_on=”off|off|on” _builder_version=”3.22.7″ text_font=”Amethysta||||||||” text_line_height=”1em” header_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_text_align=”right” header_text_color=”#258d93″ header_font_size=”60px” header_3_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_4_font=”Amethysta||||||||” header_4_text_align=”right” header_4_text_color=”#000000″ header_4_letter_spacing=”3px” header_4_line_height=”2.5em” header_5_font=”||||||||” header_5_font_size=”14px” header_5_letter_spacing=”4px” custom_margin=”-48px|-14px|57px|0px||” custom_padding=”80px|43px||||” animation_style=”slide” animation_direction=”top” animation_duration=”2000ms” animation_delay=”2100ms” animation_intensity_slide=”5%”]
